Welcome to Los Cabos Mexico, located at the southern most tip of the badger California peninsula and framed by two oceans.

Los Cabos is becoming increasingly popular destination for travellers who want to explore somewhere that little bit different.

The distinctive landscape of cactus-studded desert, and the stark peaks of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain transform gradually into expansive beaches watched over by the beautiful rock formations. With an emphasis on all things luxury the upscale Mexican enclave is an attractive location to a range of holidaymakers from those looking for romantic breaks to families who want to take advantage of the great outdoors. Those looking for great gastronomy, wellness or championship golf courses won’t be disappointed.

The entire region has a strong farm-to-table movement focused on sustainable produce and dining in Cabo San Lucas is renowned for its high end culinary scene with Michelin star spots dotted around alongside family-run taquerias and street food stalls which provide authentic local flavour options. Many of the town eateries reflect, artistic, heritage and attractive, peaceful environment.

Mexico has a rich history when it comes to art. Los Cabos is carrying forward this tradition with its wide selection of galleries and museums and regular art exhibitions for every clients taste. You should take the opportunity to learn about the indigenous Pericues Indians who have called Los Cabos their home for centuries. Their culture is revealed in multiple exhibitions and local museums. Lovers of dance in theatre should head over the city’s marina to catch a show at the 700-seat cultural pavilion of the Republic.

The beaches

It’s not just the water which is powder blue. The region is home to 25 certified blue flag beaches. Those hoping to spot marine life should head to the Chileno beach which is excellent water clarity for snorkelling while Acapulquito is great for catching waves on a surfboard. Santa Maria and Palmila Beach are other solid blue flag options. There are many other shorelines that, although not designated blue flag, are standout spots.

Did you know if the Gulf of California has been held by UNESCO as a “gem of conservation” with one-third of the world’s marine mammals found in Los Cabos.

Call of the wild

Lovers of the outdoor lifestyle can hit the fresh air and mountain trails on a bike tour or absorb the soothing sounds of waves whilst pedalling alongside the ocean. Or, why not saddle up for an early start in a cowboy guided horseback ride to take in the scenery in a leisurely manner? ,

After being out in the blazing sun why not take a plunge in a freshwater pool at the base of the cliff side. You could even camp in the Baja desert, which is another great way to connect with the natural world or sleep out on the beach or even hike the Sierra de La Laguna mountain range and sleep under the stars in East Cape on a fabulous piece of the Pacific coastline. There’s a whole world to be discovered in the ocean too, with five of the most biodiverse and productive maritime regions in the world found in Los Cabos. If you want to explore deeper than snorkelling this region you can suit up in dive gear as the open water offers deeper possibilities of exploration, including shipwrecks and natural reefs.

Three unmissable experiences

Although this is year-round destination, here are three unmissable things, focussed on ecotourism and nature:

Whales

Why not marvel at magnificent beasts offshore during whale-watching season. Season of migration takes place from December through April with a head of the nutrient rich waters of Alaska. There’s a variety of boats from catamarans to yachts to charters with plenty of options to spot the pods of grey and humpback whales swimming at frolicking with their calves. This period is also good for glimpsing whale sharks, the largest fish in the sea.

You can get in the water

You can dive or snorkel in the aquarium of the world, a hard coral that is over 20,000 years old. Cabo Pulmo is recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site and is home to over 800 species of marine life. Impressive example of conservation efforts, five of the world’s seven endangered species of turtle find refuge here, along with bull sharks, tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, blacktip and whitetip sharks.

Hike, hike, hike

Strap on your walking boots for a hike with through the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range with panoramic views over everything with the light touches you’ll be rewarded with peaceful oasis in the heart of the mountains where you can cool off. Dedicated to preserving the area’s natural beauty, Sol de Mayo is a natural sanctuary, dotted with calm pools, magnificent waterfall and native flora and fauna.

How can you get there?
