I love this city. I’ve been travelling here each year since I was a baby and happily feel at home wandering around. But for many it’s a quick and easy weekend break so I thought I’d share more about some of the best bits.

Barcelona is one of the most exciting cities in the world, full of history, beautiful architecture, and vibrant culture. Located on the coast of Spain, it’s a city where you can enjoy sunny beaches, delicious food, and amazing art all in one place. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back for more, here are the top things to do and see in Barcelona.

1. Visit the Famous Sagrada Família

The Sagrada Família is one of the most famous buildings in the world. Designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí, this giant basilica has been under construction for over 140 years and is still not finished! With its tall spires, colourful stained glass, and intricate details, it’s a must-see. You can take a guided tour to learn about its history and Gaudí’s vision.

2. Stroll Down Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas is a lively street in the heart of Barcelona where you can walk, shop, and enjoy street performances. It’s full of shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it a great place to spend an afternoon. Don’t forget to check out the famous La Boqueria Market nearby, where you can taste fresh fruits, seafood, and local treats.

3. Explore Park Güell

Another one of Gaudí’s masterpieces, Park Güell is a colourful park filled with mosaic tiles, unique buildings, and stunning views of the city. It feels like stepping into a fairytale with its winding paths and creative sculptures. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing walk and taking great photos.

4. Relax on the Beaches

Barcelona has beautiful beaches right in the city, perfect for relaxing in the sun or taking a swim. The most popular is Barceloneta Beach, known for its golden sand and lively atmosphere. There are many beachside restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood while looking out at the sea.

5. Discover the Gothic Quarter

The Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of Barcelona, full of narrow streets, historic buildings, and hidden squares. It’s a great place to get lost and explore. You’ll find old churches, charming shops, and plenty of places to sit and have a coffee or tapas. Don’t miss the Barcelona Cathedral, which has a beautiful rooftop with views over the city.

6. Enjoy Delicious Food and Tapas

Barcelona is famous for its food, especially tapas—small dishes that are perfect for sharing. I could eat these all day…
